Chairlift Weisshornspeed for pedestrians and bikers in operation
On 10 July 2020, the Weisshornspeed chairlift in Lenzerheide will start summer operations. The start of operations will upgrade the east side of Lenzerheide, as it will relieve the busy Rothorn 2 aerial tramway. An exceptional permit from the Federal Office of Transport will ensure that the winter transport chairlift, which was previously operated exclusively in winter, will be put into service for the 2020 summer season.
The Weisshornspeed chairlift brings additional capacity
Commissioning of the Weisshornspeed chairlift has been a topic of discussion for some time now and was focused on as a consequence of the COVID 19 pandemic. It will primarily relieve the Rothorn 2 aerial tramway, which was very busy during the past summer season. With the commissioning of the Weisshornspeed chairlift, the capacity restrictions on the Rothorn 2 aerial tramway can be better absorbed on days with a high number of guests.
New opportunities for hikers and bikers
The Weisshornspeed chairlift is ideal for summer operation. It makes the connection to the Urdenbahn easier for hikers and also enables a new round trip with the cable car over the Rothorn. Bikers have the possibility to reach the Älplisee Trail to Arosa with only 36 additional metres in altitude. It is also possible to access the new Urdenfürggli Twister and Motta Express trails. This not only improves the connection to Arosa, but also extends the possibilities.
